If it doesn't work, you can scroll down and download from a HTTPS mirror instead. Make sure you pick one from the country you are currently located in. It doesn't really matter which one you pick anyways.

title: "Kubuntu"
---
Under construction.
## What's Kubuntu?
Kubuntu is just Ubuntu Linux with an alternative desktop called KDE Plasma. The beautiful thing about Linux is that you aren't just locked into using a specific desktop and you're free to use whichever one you like! I personally prefer Plasma over the default Ubuntu desktop because it's more powerful and easier to use.

## Prerequisites
- A computer with at least 16 GiB of free disk space
- A USB drive
## Prepartion
Grab a download from the [Kubuntu website](https://kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/). You probably want to grab the latest version at the top of the page.
Now you will need to copy the installation disk image you just downloaded to your USB drive. An easy way to do this is with [balenaEtcher](https://www.balena.io/etcher/).
