Installing and configuring Apache Guacamole on the server would remove the need to download a separate RDP client app. However it's kind of a pain to set up. See https://guacamole.apache.org/doc/gug/ldap-auth.html
OK, I got a basic setup to work after a significant amount of debugging. Now time for nginx proxying and LDAP authentication! Lots of fun stuff ahead. No, not really.
I also hate how Java apps use so much memory. Well, we're upgrading to 32GB soon so that's nice.
The LDAP configuration seems especially cancerous. I guess a single Guacamole user would work as long as people don't click "logout" which seems to sign every session out.
Finally finished setting up nginx! Now deployed at https://desk.exozy.me!
Another huge benefit of this is that Guacamole uses the FreeRDP client so perhaps we will have fewer Microsoft RDP client issues?
