@mdwalters I'd recommend configuring Forgejo to bind to a Unix socket with 660 permissions instead of a TCP port for security reasons.

Also, I'm just curious, why host another Forgejo instance instead of using exogit?

i just like to have a more personal space to store my files

Sorry for the probably stupid question, but can you explain what you mean by that? Also, FYI git.exozy.me has some extra niceties compared to what you're hosting, such as a CI, cloning over SSH, and better performance. If you want to run your own Forgejo instance, that's also fine, but I'm just curious.
