Is there a problem with that? Are you able to read the encrypted messages?

It's impossible to convert an encrypted Matrix room into an unencrypted one, so there's no good solution here.

Unfortunate...

I think the real problem is that we only post announcements on Matrix but not anywhere else. Most of the important news is also in our releases. Apart from that, the announcements channel also has some messages about outages and hackathons but I don't think it'd be important to see those old messages.
